About Abelian Design

Born in Scotland, and raised in Ireland, Aisling Bourne gained a HND in Photographic Communication from Falmouth College of Art and a BA in Multimedia from Cheltenham College of Art and Design. She worked in the design industry in London and Auckland for international clients such as Audi Uk, Selfridges, Virgin Atlantic and U2.

Having moved to New Zealand to pursue her other love, sailing, Aisling continued to explore many creative outlets including photography, graphic design and painting.

Elements of her design background can often be seen in her simplified 'shade and structure' style when interpreting her subjects. Her photographers understanding of light is also seen through her work.

As a complete contrast to both of these mediums the fluid and unpredictable nature of silk painting has brought new challenges and excitement to her work.
